Whats up guys

I am lounging tonight enjoying the cool breeze in Florida ( we are really blessed to live here no matter how much we cant make up our mind about hot or cold weather.) Tonight I am putting a few of our songs up on a website designed for Podcasters(link below). The coolest thing is that this site allows just about anyone to upload anything from modern rock, to spoken word, to psychobilly!(yes psychobilly check it out!)for FREE! This site allows Podcasters to safely use new fresh music from bands in their podcast shows, without a huge royalty hassle. For any bands not on a major label this is a great opportunity to get your music out there!

Hard Work/ No free lunch!

I'm finding in life that anything worth doing is going to take some sweat, frustration, and focus. There is a book by Malcom Gladwell called "Outliers"(YOUTUBE!) it talks about people we hold as the greats, Micheal Jordan, Bill Gates, The Beatles... and the common factor he cites for them was they all achieved this level of greatness because most importantly they put their time in, about 10,000 hours or 10 YEARS is cited as the "Mastery" point to be exact! To put your mindset into these terms is humbling, and could even cause some to say "forget that"! Yet if we keep our nose to the grindstone and seek like-minded individuals who share similar goals to help pull us up to the next level, the possibilities are endless!

Behold The Wicked and the wicked fture that follows

This record is meant to be played live but at the same time be meant to be a consistent piece of work to listen too.

Weather driving in a car or blasting it on a stereo, we hope to sequence the record to make you feel like it's being performed. We hope you can close your eyes an imagine that we're right there playing in front of you.

We hope to have the record mixed and recorded to reflect that feeling. that....."vibe" that dirty,a little tired ragged and worn sound, but also deep and has a bunch of kick. a true LIVE sound.

This record means a lot to us and for us.

We hope we can tour this summer outside of Florida and get our music to more and more people.

As a band we believe in constantly putting out music. It's a way to show a constant evolution and to create a body of work. I believe that the ways band's use to put out music in the 70's was much more effective. I am also an impatient person. I love writing music, and playing with the band. I feel now, more then anytime we might have as band, is the time to keep evolving and keep progressing and above all else keep writing and making music.

WE intend to rock and promote this new release, 10 songs we are really excited about sharing with the world.

WE also intend to keep the music coming, what it will sound like is anyone's guess but I am excited to record again and to have this feeling again. This pre release jitters.

Behold the wicked is comming in 3 months, be ready!

Ideas Anyone??

We are in the midst of trying to complete the vision of the new album. Myself, being an advocate of the arts in every aspect, try to express myself via many platforms--drawing, painting, digital artwork, sports (skateboarding, snowboarding, skim, basketball, etc.), and most importantly music. I am attempting to create many different style and diverse context design templates for the album art of the new album. I have some golden ideas that will not be seen until the album is released in February, but until then any kind of input can most definitely be put to good use.

Thanks guys,

Brett

Devil's luck

I am currently awaiting the arrival of my guitar and amp from my good friend Ryen as I practice on my accoustic what I will be recording tomorrow. Ryen and I are going in to do some recording on a couple new songs. He will be doing a solo he has already written out and I will be working on a couple solos tonight that will be finished by the time of recording. Wish us luck...although we won't need it >=)

The Inner Workings.

Behold the Wicked is our brand new record which is (hopefully, 95 percent sure unless meteors strike!) going to be out for download and purchase starting February 12th 2010.

We are NOT DONE with it yet. We still have about half of it to track and then we got'sa mix it, BUT I am confident, partly due to how quickly we've been getting these songs down and also due to the overall enthusiasm for them that it will launch as we want it too.

These songs are really exciting to us for a lot of reasons.

1-It feels good to play ALL of them. There's the arty track and then there's the odd duck, ( a reverb soaked introduction with smoky dark guitars that sets the tone for the record and a southern rock twanged upbeat song) but it all took sort of unified approach. It is simple.

WE ARE A ROCK BAND. nothing more and nothing less. So lets play like it.

Once the tone for this record had been set, we got the vibe and direction of what we where going to do, It all fell into place.

I originally wanted to write music that was more acoustic and folky and bluesy. little more rootsy and little more smoky feeling over all. something really different from our ep and demos.

This leads to....

2. don't force yourself to write the music, it will come to you as it should via the universe and the other powers that be. (television, nature, good and bad experiences, ice cream, swimming,)

7 months ago I pushed myself to try and write music that wasn't in me yet. This kind of gave me a writers block of sorts musically. I believe i was trying to write things that my heart wasn't into.

This came to more light as we started playing live almost every weekend and working on playing LIVE. playing LIVE is where it started to come together for me outside of the band musically.
I realized what FELT good.

ROCKING OUT

Songs like Salvation and Breaking Free really worked up there. really made people listen and we had fun as band play them (and those kinds of tracks) more then anything else in our setlist.

On our EP we had this goal of showcasing that we didn't make the same song twice. that every song had its own personality and sonic existence form its brothers. I hope and think we accomplished this to a degree.

That changed for me after we played those summer shows. I had begun writing and writing and writing! these dark, wicked sounding melodies and riffs and minor key arrangements and dissident, fast, sludgey music was coming out of me. Sounds i didn't think i could write, things i didn't think i would maybe even like....

Now, from the above sound i just painted you a picture with, you might be expected some sort of melodic thrash metal record.

We have certainly taken our sound on this record into a darker place and into a more driving, heavy and at times bluesy and punkier version of our band. It is ascending to avalon. Just a lot heavier.

This record is by no means this HUMONGOUS GIGANTIC LEAP from our sound(s) established on the EP and our demos. We are still in there. We just really magnified certain elements of our sound, the ones that felt right. still feel right.

So when you download, pick it up at show, punch the fat kid who sings out in the parking lot and grab and handful of 'em an run, You'll know that this record is completely intentionally a hard rock record. a heavier, darker, physchey, bluesier and even punked up version of us, but we are this.

We don't confine to any certain soundscape. I don't want us to every feel like we have to make something because of somebody or because we have too. That destroys artistic integrity. that destroys the freedom that making art gives life too.

on that note, I have a log of ideas and fragments and riffs and some chord progressions building up-I learned to write what feels right. That was the inner workings of things that made this whole thing hyper warp towards completion.

Next time we sit down to write a record, It will be very, very different then this record. You'll still hear the band. But it will be different. How? you'll see....I know, but lets let this new record simmer for a while then we'll really shock you by the end of 2010......Christmas will be really interesting for us....

Take care.

Night Off! (Sort Of)

Hey this is Lance

No amp stands tonight :( ice on wrist):

Tonight is learning all about the new wave of the social Internet platforms that I have just been waking to. Everything is becoming so integrated, it is very amazing to me that I can have a video chat with family from Seattle , while purchasing a scooter part from china, while playing fetch with my dog! At the moment I am acquiring a Google reader and working on some Social Bookmarking using "Delicious" . This is great stuff!

And now I leave with this :

Amp Stands, Recording and Writing the perfect setlist.

I knew it. I knew right from the beginning. When our drummer Lance got his head around the idea of "making an amp stand", we would surely be in for something interesting.

He is suffering from a bit of an injury, his wrist is hurting to the point where it might be safe to just let it heal for a few days rather then make him play and swell it up even more.

We all made our "jokes" about his "wrist" hurting and "why" his wrist would be hurting. we all laughed. Lance....sort of.....

SO, these amp stands will tilt are amps back a bit an angle and project our sound more upward towards us and into the air. This will surely help us in the practice space and live as well.

we're going to spray paint 'em black for consistency's sake.

That is what our mission is tonight at practice.

Recording on the other hand is on for next Saturday. It is time to get two more beastly numbers off our new record down to tape....er or....hard drive. Lance is going to destroy these songs, he is as always cautious, but he will annihilate these tracks. I know he will.

Lastly, I believe our set list is a bit too short for the upcoming show on December 5th in Ybor.

We have a plethora of new material to play, which is heavy and loud and rocking and just plain out fun to play live. The mellower stuff has taken a back seat this time around, but our live sets feature barely any mellow pieces. I think this is a mistake. I am hard at work formulating what we should play. (OK....it doesn't really require that much work) It's coming up soon, so we have got to get it going!!!

That's all from me today.

Take care!
Ryen

Update One

Practice didn't go as planned(no loud ass music) but we are working on getting our presence known to the world!
